EL SALVADOR: FDR could provide FMLN with stiff competition

The scope of the ambitions of the newly created Frente Democrático Revolucionario (FDR) is expanding. Originally content to provide an alternative to the main left-wing opposition Frente Farabundo Martí­ para la Liberación Nacional (FMLN), and to gather the 45,000 signatures required to register as a political party, the FDR is now considering contesting the legislative elections in March 2006.
